October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Lake EMS administrative and dispatch staff are “in the pink” to honor the women who are valiantly fighting this disease, those who are “survivors,” and those who have lost the battle.

This year, breast cancer struck close to home again with a staff member’s spouse bravely facing her challenge with the disease. In the past, a former staff member also fought a winning battle with breast cancer. What both women share, besides their cancer diagnosis, is a positive attitude, loving families, and becoming survivors! These are just two of the women, who are part of the EMS family, who have been challenged by breast cancer—there are many more but we hope that with awareness and research the numbers will decrease.

Lake EMS is proud to honor these women and all the others who wage their own personal wars against breast cancer.
