This award is given to Lake EMS employees who have performed their jobs with extraordinary excellence.
The True North Award is founded upon the principles of fairness, kindness, dignity, charity, integrity, quality and service.
The True North Award is the highest level of recognition given at Lake Emergency Medical Services and honors notable accomplishments performed while on or off duty.
The plaque reads: In recognition of excellent and exemplary service to Lake EMS, Inc. and the communities we serve.

Lake EMS Joins with Community Organization to Offer Free CPR Classes
Lake EMS employees are in the business of saving lives and caring for people in crisis. Every day they respond to calls for medical assistance. Their commitment to helping people goes beyond their work shift. That’s why Lake EMS paramedics and EMTs will volunteer their time and skills with S.I.R.E.N.S. of Lake County to provide free CPR classes for the citizens of Lake County.
Jerry Smith, Lake EMS Executive Director explains, “We always look for opportunities to maximize our impact in the community. By joining with S.I.R.E.N.S.- a nonprofit community organization – we can reach more individuals and share vital lifesaving CPR skills with more citizens.”
Lake EMS crews and members of S.I.R.E.N.S. will be offering free CPR classes throughout the year with the first round being held in February:

In early 2016, Lake EMS decided to initiate a Special Response Division within its Operations Department. The mission of this Specialized Division is to have the ability to provide early advanced life support care through a highly skilled rescue Paramedic, with the assistance of an equally specialized EMT, in any situation or circumstance within our 1,163 square mile response area in Lake County, Florida.
Today the Special Response Division has grown to encompass five unique areas with the ability to access, assess, and treat critically ill or injured patients that may be found in nearly any adverse circumstance. This division offers a team that specializes in:
- Rescue Task Force
- Segway Team
- Bike Team
- Water Rescue Team
- Community Outreach
Lake EMS Rescue Paramedics and EMTs are highly trained, experienced, and dedicated employees who believe in the mission and the community that they serve.
