National EMS Week – “EMS Strong” • The City of Fruitland Park proclaimed the week of May 17, 2015 as “Emergency Medical Services Week”
This Sunday May 17, 2015, marks the beginning of National EMS Week, Fruitland Park’s “Emergency Medical Services Week” and presents an opportunity to honor the men and women who deliver pre-hospital 9-1-1 emergency medical care in Fruitland Park along with LakeEMS and our Fire Department. As well as other agencies throughout Lake and Sumter Counties, in Central Florida, our great state, and throughout the United States.
This vital public safety service is provided primarily by cross-trained, multi-role emergency responders who are based in our nation’s fire departments and ems service providers. The fire and ems service has a rich history of protecting the health and safety of our communities through an ‘all hazards’ response model that includes the delivery of pre-hospital emergency medical care via a multi-tiered system. Fire service personnel and EMS providers are located, trained, and equipped to provide virtually every community with timely pre-hospital 9-1-1 emergency medical response and patient care. It starts with 911 Operators and Dispatchers, and then transitions to Firefighters, First Responders, EMTs and Paramedics that respond quickly, professionally, and compassionately in our communities starting with Fruitland Park and across the entire United States – and they do it every day, 24/7.
The City of Fruitland Park, along with our City Mayor, Commissioners, and our Fruitland Park Fire Rescue Department Command Staff recognizes the life-saving contributions and achievements, as well as the dedication and commitment, of those who serve every day in these capacities.
National EMS Week and Fruitland Park’s “Emergency Medical Services Week” is a time to pause and say “thank you” to the entire EMS Community, including 911 Operators, Dispatchers, Firefighters, First Responders, EMTs and Paramedics – our nation’s all-hazards response professionals.
