The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA and the Florida Division of Emergency Management is offering Operation Blue Roof to Lake County residents. Operation Blue Roof provides a temporary covering of blue plastic sheeting to help reduce further damage to property until permanent repairs can be made. The tarp is installed using strips of wood that are secured to the roof with nails or screws. This program is available at no cost to eligible primary homeowners in Lake County.
Operation Blue Roof is at Lake EMS, 2761 W. Old U.S. Hwy 441, Mount Dora, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Wednesday, 27 September through Monday, 2 October 2017.
I was made aware of this service (Operation Blue Roof) this morning at work. I’m a homeowner in Tavares with damage from the hurricane IRMA to 1/4 of my roof, missing many shingles. Can you help me?
Yes, come to Lake EMS Administration office and meet with the Operation Blue Roof personnel today before 6pm.
Did this end on October 2nd?
They have extended their operation, so stop in and meet with them.
Is this service still available? I just happened to see a truck in my neighborhood.
The service is still available, but they no longer have an office at Lake EMS.

I wasn’t aware this service was offered. Is there a possibility for my home to receive the blue tarp? We would be truly thankful. Thank you for your time.
